Lullaby and Love Song by an Unborn Baby: For my Mother

(To the tune of “All Through the Night”)

Can you hear me calling, mother, here in the night?

Do you know that I am with you, hidden from sight?

In your womb I’ve found my home now,

Though I cannot comprehend how,

Close your eyes and take your rest now

Sweetly this night.

I’m awake!—I feel your fear now, some inner fight.

I move to show you I’m here with you, please hold me tonight.

Love me, please—I long to love you,

Yearn to put my arms around you,

You are irreplaceable, dear mother,

As I am to you.

Mother darling, I will love you, with all my might.

I’ll caress you with my smiling, once in the light.

Let no one our sweet bond sever,

I want us to love forever.

Now let us find sleep together

Lullabye--sleep tight.
